The Eco-Scholar program is back for 2016, offering $2500 in honorariums! If you are a registered student at a high school, community college or university (undergrad or grad), and are interested in making a career in organics, you are encouraged to apply.
The Guelph Organic Conference is generously supported by many organic participants like The Big Carrot, Pfenning’s Organic Vegetables, Ontario Natural Food Co-op, Homestead Organics, Organics Live and others. “Thanks to their on-going financial support over the past several years, the Conference is now expanding the Eco-Scholar program by adding a monetary reward to the offering,” says Conference Manager, Tomas Nimmo.
The 35th annual Conference and Trade Show theme is ‘Where Farmers & Consumers Meet’ and highlights numerous organic workshop streams plus several BioDynamic farming workshops.
The 2016 Eco-Scholarship opportunity will be awarded to five students, and each will receive a $500 honorarium, an Organic Food & Wine Dinner ticket, a Keynote Forum ticket plus a distinctive identifiable Saturday/Sunday workshop badge.
Qualified applicants are required to complete an application form on-line that asks for an essay of 250 words or less about how they envision themselves making a career in organics. The link to the survey can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/X9B7QQQ. The deadline for applications to be considered is January 10th, 2016. The 5 winners will be announced shortly after January 15th, once the final selections are made by the judging committee.
The Guelph Organic Conference runs from January 28 – 31, 2016, in the Guelph University Centre. Founded in 1982 by students, the Guelph Organic Conference has become Canada’s leading grassroots organic conference with a free 2-day Organic Trade Show featuring over 160 exhibitors targeting producers, processors and organic consumers. There is also an impressive list of over 60 speakers.
